Mother's Day Gift Guide

With Mother's Day a couple weeks away, I wanted to put together a gift guide that I know my mom would love! She is definitely superwoman and deserves only the best!

What are you getting your mom this year for Mother's Day?

Anatomy of a Thank You Note

In today's fast paced society sometimes the little details are forgotten. A handwritten thank-you note is one of those little things that often goes unnoticed, until you receive one. I am a big believer in writing thank-you notes, even for the small things, because it shows my appreciation and that I have actually taken the time to think about what it is that I am thanking you for. Thank-you notes are appropriate when you've received a gift, interviewed for a job, when someone does something that is helpful for you and even when you've established a new professional contact.

But you might ask, what do I say in a thank-you note? I have broken it down into six simple parts for a good, easy to write thank-you note.
  1. Greeting. Don't forget to use the correct spelling of the person's name. Always start with Dear ___
  2. Express Your Thanks. Begin with the two most important words: Thank you
  3. Add Specific Details. How will you use their gift? Summarize what you talked about in your interview. What has their help done for you?
  4. Look Ahead. Mention the next time you might see them, or just let them know you’re thinking of them.
  5. Restate Your Thanks.
  6. End With Your Regards. Depending on who you are thanking, "Sincerely" is safe, but use a warmer option for someone you have a closer relationship with.
Thank-you notes are even more personal when they are written on your very own personal stationery. My go-to for personalized stationery is Modern Posh - a fashion forward fine stationery and gift collection by Vanilla Print, a design house of couture stationery. Not only do they have amazing personalized products, but their customer service is amazing!

Rocksbox: The New Way to Buy Jewelry

Are you a jewelry fanatic who loves to try out new styles on a consistent basis? If the answer is yes, then I have the perfect solution just for you! Rocksbox is a premium jewelry subscription box that brings you an ever-rotating selection of jewelry, chosen just for you and sent directly to your door.

I was recently selected by Rocksbox to become a It Girl and I can honestly say that my first box did not disappoint. I received a pair of Perry Street Julia Earrings, the Kendra Scott Brennan Ring Set in Platinum Drusy and the CC Skye Plain Nail Bangle in Silver. Since I like to change up my jewelry on a regular basis, adding these three pieces into my daily wardrobe was quite fun. The earrings gave me a pop of color with a casual look while the rings and bangle added a little bit of edge to my normally simple style. I am sending back my first box and I can’t wait to see what I get to style from my next Rocksbox!
For just $19 a month you can become a Shine Insider which gives you unlimited access to try, buy and swap designer jewelry. You will get three hand-selected pieces in each box and the best part is that you can return your Rocksbox pieces anytime and as often as you like. Every set has 3 pieces of designer jewelry, worth an average of $200 per set.

Here is the best part…Rocksbox is so kindly letting my readers try their service FREE for one month!! All you have to do is enter the code kindlywithkxoxo at checkout on rocksbox.com! Who doesn’t love a free month of jewelry?!

I can’t wait to share my jewelry discoveries with you! If you have any questions on how Rocksbox works, please feel free to email me! And if you decide to try their amazing service (which why wouldn’t you for a FREE month), tag me in your social media pictures and I will share them on my page!! Enjoy your jewelry!

Splurge vs. Save

OR

Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient in many new moisturizers hitting the shelves. Not only is it for serious moisturizing, it also benefits any skin type, at any age! Would you splurge? Or would you save?

Dear American Women

One of my favorite magazines of all time is Glamour! They always have such a great mix of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and all around great reads. In the April issue, I came across a fantastically written open letter by James Corden - the new host of The Late Late Show! It has such great advice on life and love that I had to share it with you.

You can read the whole letter here or in the April issue of Glamour.

Here is James' advice on love, confidence, and generally being a decent person in the world:

  • Trust that money won't make you happy.
  • Realize that "meaningless one-night stands" aren't meaningless.
  • Get your heart broken; you'll be better for it.
  • That said, do not date a guy who takes gym selfies.
  • Marry someone who makes you laugh.
  • Respect your body.
  • Be silly when you can.
  • Forget about age.
  • Cut yourself some slack.
  • Have kids if you want to.
  • But recognize that being a parent is hard.
  • Speaking of which, stop blaming your parents.
  • Never stop believing in yourself.
  • Try not to criticize.
  • Netflix the following: Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Planes, Trains and Automobiles; Grease; As Good as It Gets; and Dirty Dancing
  • Take action, however big or small.
  • And vote!
  • Don't be a bully.
  • Live in this moment. Everything in your past is gone and everything in your future is undecided. All you really have is this moment, right now. So be the very best you can be. Let yourself shine. If you always do that, your life is going to be great. I promise.
If you had one piece of advice to give, what would it be?

"If you want to be loved, be lovable." - Ovid
